CRA Topic: Brett Kavanaugh
My subject will be
regarding the nomination and confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court
justice. This is an issue that is being widely discussed due to the political balance
of the Supreme Court and people were unsure if he would be best for the Supreme
Court’s panel. Most presidents in our past have not had an opportunity to
nominate a Supreme Court Justice and since this President Trump’s second time
nominating one in one term, people are fervently debating who would he should
pick and who would be the best choice to put on the panel.
I chose this topic
because there are many views concerning his nomination and it was controversial
if Kavanaugh’s views would be beneficial for our country’s future. Many mediums
and media outlets discuss this issue by explaining his background and what his
political views consist of. They primarily talk about his education, previous experience
in the court system and what he has done as a judge to make a difference in his
community.
I expect to find a wide
array of articles discussing his nomination where they contemplate if he will
be the best choice for Trump’s next Supreme Court justice pick. However, since this
a specific topic, there will limited sources where I can get find informative
articles about Kavanaugh. There will be many articles that elaborate on who
Kavanaugh is, but there will be even more that will be biased towards or
against his political background. Those will not be appropriate to utilize for
this paper since they will only elaborate on one side of the argument.
Sources can be found from
many media outlets, ranging from social media to YouTube videos since many
people want to include their input about his confirmation. For writing
purposes, it would be best to reference news articles and YouTube videos since
they are more informative and less biased. It would not be appropriate to
reference social media or comments since they usually only provide one view of their
argument and are posting for their own satisfaction or to get attention, not to
correctly provide information for the public.
