iGod

In all honesty, I found this relatively interesting. I was able to follow along with the ideas the author had. The topic is very controversial nowadays which made it an interesting topic itself. However, this is geared towards an audience who are more familiar with computer science which is why it captivated me to an extent. I was able to understand the terminology, such as HTML and data buses because it’s relevant to my major. For those who are not in STEM or in a non-technological discipline I could understand why they would have difficulty because he barely elaborates on the terms he introduces. It was refreshing for me because if he did, I would get slightly annoyed because it would throw his track of thought off. On the other hand, it was too informational because the essay lacked a voice. He never adds his own ideas and only says something to transition to another source.
This essay, I believe, included too many sources. There were definitely some that he could have cut out because they were a bit redundant as they defined and described artificial intelligence. I also caught myself wondering why he included some. They kept on just talking about AI but I never understood the purpose behind why he mentioned them. Other than the redundant sources though, I appreciated that he didn’t only include articles, but he added dialogue from interviews and an example of AI such as the chess master. It revived the paper at those points but I was immediately bored again when he went back to plainly describing AI.
I commend him for starting his essay strongly though. He kicks it off by mentioning popular companies, Amazon and Google, ones that everyone is familiar with. He includes them to show that AI has a strong role even ten years ago and technology will develop exponentially. It grabs the reader’s attention because no one, especially then, would expect the possible chance to have their brains connected to computers in the near future. This only lasts a little bit before he drones on about the rudiments of AI.
